WALTHILL PUBLIC SCHOOL TO OPEN DAYCARE CENTER
WALTHILL, NE --- Walthill Public School will have an open house this Friday from 1-4 pm in the new modular to introduce its latest addition to the Walthill community, a daycare center.
The daycare center is called Wazhinga Ti Zinga, Omaha for "Little Birdhouse". Scheduled to open for business March 10, the center is expected to accommodate at least 12 children aged from six weeks to five years, the center's director Mrs. Denise Sorensen said.
According to Sorensen, the center's mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of young children.
Hours of operation will be from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, she stated, unless special arrangements with the parents are made.
"We will follow the school calendar established by the Walthill Public School," she elaborated. "We will decide upon a summer schedule based on the interest of our clientele."
Sorensen holds a BS degree in Family and Consumer Science with an endorsement in Early childhood education. She has 15 years experience working with young children. She is assisted by Peggy Connealy, Tracey Nowland, and Jennifer Ross.
Connealy holds a BS and Masters degree in Special Education-Speech Pathology and 12 years experience working with children. Nowland is a Teacher Aide with an AA in Early Childhood Education and a BS in Elementary Education. She has worked 8 years with Head Start. Ross, a graduating Walthill senior, is a Part-Time Aide; she has completed a Child Development class.
