Novel Inspired By Actual Murder
For Immediate Release
Cincinnati Author Releases First Novel
Cincinnati, Ohio--Author Cray Donnelly's first novel Laudanum, a mystery/thriller set in present day Natchitoches, Louisiana, will be released September 28, 2003. The novel tells the story of Brandon Keller, a recent high school graduate, who returns home after a near-fatal automobile accident to face the unsolved murder of his high school sweet heart.
Interestingly the book was inspired by actual events involving a high school friend's involvement with a murder. "The idea surfaced when my mother told me someone I knew in school was arrested for murder," the author recalls. Though the novel is fictional, "there was one theory that repeatedly popped up in newspapers, which was later proved untrue, but I thought it was fundamentally interesting, so I created a story around it," he added.
The book will appeal to anyone to enjoys imaginative fiction. "I wanted to create a realistic feel and flow to the story while maintaining an original tone."
Laudanum, ISBN 1-59286-933-5 and published by AmErica House, retails for $19.95, and is a 218-page trade paperback. It is available at booksellers everywhere.
Cray Donnelly is available for interviews and appearances.
